Wedding Location: Cypress M Ranch – Punta Gorda – Jessica and Paul
Introduction:
Our first opportunity to meet Jessica and Paul was during a consult at our place in the lead up to their engagement session. As we got to know them, we realized that we had quite a lot of interests in common, including fishing!
They were planning a farm-style wedding at the gorgeous Cypress M Ranch, a rustic venue in Punta Gorda. While there were a few clouds in the sky, it was an otherwise perfect Florida day for an outdoor wedding when we arrived to capture their getting ready moments.
Getting ready photos at the Cypress M Ranch
We began the day capturing shots of Jessica as she prepared with her four bridesmaids in the wooden bridal suite of the Cypress M Ranch, as well as grabbing a photo of her dress hanging in front of the reception barn. After a fun shot of the girls all holding their personalized travel mugs, we headed upstairs to capture a bird’s eye view as Jessica’s mom fluffed her gorgeous dress.
We got creative with a silhouette as she shared in this special moment with her mom and another as she stepped out the door of her bridal suite, then continued with a portrait session in the farm-style grounds of the Cypress M Ranch. In addition to an up-close shot featuring her beautiful bouquet from the team at Pilato, we also recreated the DVD cover from the film “Bridesmaids” in front of the barn doors.
While Paul and his groomsmen weren’t so keen to be photographed, we did capture a reflective shot of the groom reading a note from his bride-to-be. He was wearing a black hat in keeping with the country theme while Jessica had a pair of cowboy boots on under her wedding dress.

Wedding ceremony photos at the Cypress M Ranch
Jessica and Paul were exchanging vows under a huge oak tree in the whimsical grounds of the Cypress M Ranch. The bride’s dad escorted her to the start of the aisle while her stepdad took her the rest of the way as Paul caught his first glimpse of his beautiful bride.
The traditional ceremony included a scripture ready and incorporated a unity cross, with the diffuse lighting ideal for photography. After a wide-angle shot of their wedding ceremony at the Cypress M Ranch, we documented their first kiss after being pronounced “husband and wife”.

Post-Ceremony portraits at the Cypress M Ranch
Before the reception started, we took the time to capture a few romantics of the newlyweds, including a black and white as Jessica rested her head on Paul’s shoulder and a creative shot focused on the bouquet as they embraced. We also utilized our off-camera flash for some more dramatic shots of the couple standing in front of the fence before grabbing a black and white as they walked hand-in-hand towards the reception barn.

Reception photos at the Cypress M Ranch
Jessica and Paul kicked off their reception with a first dance before everyone settled in to eat. Speeches and toasts from those closest to them followed before the parental dances led into open dancing for the rest of the night.
As the dusk sky turned a brilliant purple, we snuck out with the couple for a few nighttime portraits in front of the barn, with our off-camera flash illuminating them in the entrance. We then headed back indoors to capture all the dance floor action, with everyone (except for the couple) changing into more casual attire in keeping with the relaxed, country theme.

Conclusion
It was an honor to be selected as the Punta Gorda wedding photographer for Jessica and Paul’s special day and to document a wedding at the gorgeous Cypress M Ranch. We wish them all the best as they embark on this new chapter together and hope these photos bring them joy for many years to come.
