Dusk Wedding – Kay and Dylan

Wedding and Reception Location: Sarasota, Florida

Introduction:

Texas-based couple Kayleigh and Dylan share a love of the moon and night sky, which is why they were planning an evening wedding ceremony. They were heading back to Sarasota where the bride grew up to celebrate at her family home with some of their closest family and friends. While it was quite a cold day, the couple brought plenty of love to their night wedding celebrations for us to capture.

Getting ready photos at private estate in Sarasota:

We began the day capturing photos of the bride making her final preparations in her parents’ master bedroom. We captured details shots of the makeup artists’ tools and brushes, as well as getting creative with some whimsical candids of the bride. She was wearing a gorgeous dress by Stella York, which we hung in an elegant lounge inside her parents’ home to capture some details shots incorporating the illuminated lamps above.

As Kay stepped into her dress, we headed outside to take some shots of Dylan and his groomsmen in the gardens. We grabbed an up-close shot showing off the groom’s U.S. Army suit and a classic portrait with his groomsmen before getting a little playful as they chased him across the lawns.

Once Kay was dressed and ready to go, we captured some beautiful reflective shots of the bride with her bouquet by Suncoast Florist, utilizing a full-length mirror in her parents’ bedroom. Her dad then arrived for the father-daughter first look and we captured a shot looking through the sheer curtains as Kay helped to adjust his boutonniere.

We stepped outside once again to grab some photos of the bride and her best friend showing off their matching tattoos before using the magical late-afternoon light for portraits of Kay. She knew how to pose and needed little instruction from us, with the changing leaves illuminated a rich hue of orange behind.

After capturing some portraits with her bridesmaids in their dusk pink dresses, we got creative with some bird’s eye views of the bride nestled in her dress. This had been the idea of Kay’s mom, with the green of the lawn really “popping” in the background.

Pre – Ceremony photos at private estate in Sarasota:

It was then time for the first look, although this didn’t quite go how Dylan was expecting. He turned around to see his best man dressed up as a bride, with the two erupting into laughter at the practical joke. Kay then walked up to her groom for the “real” first look and we grabbed some portraits of the couple in this loved-up moment.

In addition to romantics of the couple alone and with their cute dog at the end of a flower-decorated lead, we had time for some bridal party portraits. We captured both classic and more creative shots during this sunset portrait session, as well as some playful ones as the couple kissed and their bridal party celebrated around them.

Ceremony photos at private estate in Sarasota:

By the time Kay walked down the aisle to her awaiting groom, it was completely dark, with just lanterns lighting the way. We captured wide-angle shots of this stunning nighttime wedding ceremony venue, as well as close-up candids as the couple exchanged vows beneath lanterns that were also hanging from the trees.

After being pronounced “husband and wife”, we used this magical setting for family formals and some romantic shots of the newlyweds beneath their hanging candles. We then walked over to the nearby lake for some reflective portraits, with the couple illuminated by our off-camera flash.

Reception photos at private estate in Sarasota:

Kay, Dylan and their bridal party danced into the wedding reception wearing sunglasses before the couple performed their first dance. In between speeches, toasts and the cake-cutting ceremony, we grabbed a funny photo of Kay’s dad showing his empty pockets after paying for his daughter’s wedding. As everyone was busy on the dance floor, we took the opportunity to capture details shots of Kay and Dylan’s gorgeous wedding rings before calling it a night.

Conclusion

We can’t thank Kay and Dylan enough for selecting Fallbrook Photography to capture their special day and what was such a unique nighttime wedding. We wish them all the best as they return to Texas and start their new life together as husband and wife.
