Introduction:
Desiree and Sam hail from Jacksonville and were planning an intimate wedding with just their closest family and friends at Florida Rustic Barn Weddings. This gorgeous wedding venue in Plant City features a tree canopy-lined ceremony venue and a whimsical barn reception space, with the natural setting just what the couple was after.
Taylor Falcon from Florida Rustic Barn Weddings was their planner for the day, with plenty of time scheduled in for us to utilize the venue’s beautiful details. From the charming tree swing to the driveway framed by towering trees, there was no shortage of inspiration. We were also inspired to discover that the venue is owned by wedding photographers, which gave us a few ideas about what we might do in the future!
Getting ready photos at Florida Rustic Barn Weddings
The day began at Florida Rustic Barn Weddings where Desiree was getting ready in an elegant suite with her bridesmaids. We captured reflective shots as she secured her earrings in one of the ornate mirrors and another in a glass table top, as well as a candid photo as her bridesmaid slipped on Desiree’s garter.
We then had time for a few portraits of the beautiful bride in her stunning dress by Hayley Paige. Aside from a close-up portrait incorporating Desiree’s engagement ring, we also grabbed a black and white as she stood beside the suite window.

Pre-Ceremony portraits at Florida Rustic Barn Weddings:
Once we arrived at Florida Rustic Barn Weddings where the couple’s ceremony was to be held, we captured a few more portraits of the bride on the grassy lawns in front of the barn. We also replicated the film cover of “Bridesmaids” in front of the barn door, using an off-camera flash to illuminate the girls.
It was then time for the first look session, with Sam walking up behind Desiree who was genuinely surprised. We took advantage of this loved-up moment for some romantic portraits of the two embracing, then grabbed a few shots of Sam on his own. Aside from casual shots as he leant against the barn door and adjusted his tie, we also got creative with a silhouette in the entrance to Florida Rustic Barn Weddings’ reception venue.

Desiree was escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father, who was clearly emotional during this life milestone. We captured a candid shot of the ring bearer holding a sign that read “Here comes the love of your life” and another of Sam’s reaction as he watched on.
The ceremony venue at Florida Rustic Barn Weddings is undeniably whimsical, with a canopy of trees framing the aisle and wooden pews on either side of the rustic bridal arch. We photographed the couple as they exchanged rings and vows in front of their family and friends, then sealed their marriage with a kiss. After a black and white candid shot as they turned to face their guests, we also documented their recessional walk down the aisle with beaming smiles.

Post-Ceremony photos at Florida Rustic Barn Wedding:
We began the post-ceremony portrait session with a shot of Desiree and Sam kissing with their ring bearers surrounding them and captured a cute candid as one ran up towards the camera with his arms in the air. After a similar shot with their bridal party in front of the pink-draped bridal arch, we wandered over to a rustic fence along the driveway to continue the portrait session.
Here we captured relaxed shots of the couple leaning up against the fence and a black and white as they looked lovingly at one another, then had them stand beneath the soaring canopy of trees that frames the driveway. Florida Rustic Barn Weddings has a gorgeous tree swing in the grounds, so we grabbed a few portraits of Desiree and Sam kissing here, with moss-draped trees in the background. We finished the portrait session with a close-up black and white portrait of the bride showcasing her stunning wedding ring.

Reception photos at Florida Rustic Barn Weddings:
Desiree and Sam’s wedding reception was being held in the rustic barn after which the venue is named, beginning with speeches and toasts from those closest to them. This was followed by their romantic first dance, with the couple happy to sneak away for some nighttime portraits as dusk set in. We captured a creative shot of them kissing behind a Kodak print that had been taken during the day and a dramatically-lit shot in the barn entranceway, then walked into the gardens for some photos incorporating the twinkling Christmas lights.
It was then time for the cake-cutting ceremony, with the couple having a multi-tiered creation by Petite Madelyn’s that was soon smashed into one another’s faces while their wedding guests cheered on. This was followed by the garter removal and garter toss before everyone hit the dance floor to celebrate. The night ended with a grand sparkler exit from the rustic barn where we grabbed a final shot of Sam kissing his bride.
