Introduction:
Like many couples, Whitney and Ryan’s wedding at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club had to be postponed from its original April date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But with restrictions gradually being lifted, friends and family flew in from around the country (and abroad) to celebrate their special day at the end of June.
Their wedding was being held just down the road from us at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, a gorgeous wedding venue in Sarasota County that we hope to shoot at again in the future. Whitney and Ryan had opted for really classic details for their wedding, which all began in the gorgeous bridal suite at this Florida country club.
We are PHOTOGRAPHERS first, however here is a highlight film we made for Whitney and Ryan!
Getting ready photos at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club:
We began the day capturing shots of Whitney as she had the final touches applied to her makeup by the talented team at Lasting Luxe Hair & Makeup Artistry. She was joined by her five bridesmaids and we grabbed a playful shot of them together in their pink dressing gowns, backed by the sophisticated suite decor.
As Whitney stepped into her Essence of Australia wedding dress, we captured a creative shot looking through the doorway of her suite before grabbing some classic portraits of the bride on her wrought-iron balcony. This was followed by a first look with her bridesmaids and a special moment with her mom as she tenderly kissed her daughter’s cheek.
Before the ceremony was due to start, we had time for some bridal party portraits of the girls on one of the grand staircases of the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club and another in black and white as they leaned up against the grand piano. Meanwhile, Ryan was in the gardens waiting with his groomsmen who posed for a couple of casual portraits.

Whitney and Ryan’s courtyard wedding ceremony at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club began with the bride walking down a staircase towards her groom whose reaction we captured with an up-close shot. After the short but sweet proceedings, they sealed their marriage with a kiss before making their recessional walk down the aisle as “husband and wife”.

Despite the heat and humidity, we stayed outside for some romantic portraits to take advantage of the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club’s gorgeous grounds. After a few couple portraits and another with Whitney and her bridesmaids, the newlyweds led their bridal party to a vegetation-covered tunnel for a more playful shot.
We stayed here for some couple portraits, with the tunnel framing Whitney and Ryan as the groom kissed his bride, then headed back inside the air conditioning of the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club. Aside from some elevated portraits of the newlyweds on the staircase, we also got creative with a reflective shot utilizing the top of the grand piano.

Whitney and Ryan kicked off their ballroom wedding reception at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club with a choreographed first dance, which ended with Ryan dipping and kissing his bride. This was followed by the parental dances and the cake cutting ceremony, although we did sneak out in between for a few portraits backed by the dramatic dusk sky.
It was then open dancing for the rest of the night, with the reception a bit of a reunion party as the couple’s bridesmaids and groomsmen were all old college friends that were now dispersed across the country. We ended the night with a few off-camera flash portraits of Whitney and Ryan in their stunning ballroom wedding venue and their grand exit from the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club as their guests blew bubbles.

Conclusion
