INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY

Nestled on the shores of Phillipi Creek to the south of Sarasota, the Phillipi Creek Estate is set within a 60-acre natural park. It centers around the historic Italian Renaissance Edson Keith Mansion which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features an elegant entrance foyer, spacious living and dining areas, a stately paneled library and twin sunrooms with graceful Palladian windows.

It was built in 1916 by Edson and Nettie Keener Keith after relocating from Chicago and designed by architectural firm Otis and Clark. Today it serves not only as a gorgeous Sarasota wedding venue, but also hosts community and cultural events, art exhibitions and corporate meetings.

WEDDING INFORMATION

Wedding ceremonies at the Phillipi Creek Estate can take place either inside one of the mansion’s elegant interiors or outside on the spacious lawns, taking in the natural creek vistas. Moss-draped mature oaks and palms frame the mansion, while a small rose garden with an arbor feature is an ideal wedding portrait location. A gazebo on the south-west side of the park is also perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies, with three interconnected pavilions providing space for around 40 guests.

A commercial kitchen is available for your choice of licensed caterer, and alcoholic beverages of your choice can be brought in. Amplified music is also permitted, subject to Sarasota County noise restrictions (music must end by 10pm). The Phillipi Creek Estate is owned and operated by the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation, with some regulations implemented to preserve and protect the venue’s historic significance.

Phillipi Creek Estate weddings have the capacity for up to 150 guests for a sit-down dinner reception, with banquet and round tables, as well as chairs, provided for up to 120 guests, provided they are placed on the terrace or interior of the venue. For receptions on the lawns, tables and chairs must be rented privately and brought to the venue. Rental also includes use of the spacious terrace, lawns stretching down to the fishing pier and the beautiful rose garden, while individual suites are available on the second floor for the bride and groom to get ready with their entourage.
