Introduction:
Originally hailing from Wisconsin, Jamie and Pere are based in Florida for work and were planning their Sarasota wedding at the gorgeous Powel Crosley Estate. They were hoping to keep things really relaxed, utilizing the property’s sprawling gardens for a laid-back ceremony and alfresco reception under the stars.
The day didn’t begin exactly as planned, with Jamie succumbing to a bad stomach and things running a little behind schedule as she was getting ready at the Lido Beach Resort. But she still looked radiant throughout the day and from the way she appeared, you wouldn’t have guessed anything was wrong.
Getting ready photos at Lido Beach Resort:
We began the day capturing details shots of Jamie’s gorgeous wedding dress and her Badgley Mischka shoes, as well as the bridesmaids’ bouquets lined up on the bed. As she was having her hair and makeup done, we slipped into Pere’s hotel suite where he was making his final preparations with his best man, “Thrasher”, which we captured with some black and white shots. After securing his boutonniere, we photographed the groom standing beside his suite window and got creative with a shot incorporating the room’s elegant lamp.
When we returned to Jamie’s hotel suite, she was having the final touches applied to her makeup and we used the opportunity to grab a details shot of her stunning engagement ring. After a final portrait of the bride and her bridesmaids, Jamie changed into her wedding dress, with the help of her maid-of-honor.
We used the time we had available for some portraits of the bride looking absolutely beautiful, including a wide-angle shot incorporating her hotel suite and some close-ups with her bouquet. It was then time to make the 20-minute drive over to the Powel Crosley Estate where the couple’s garden wedding ceremony was due to take place.

Wedding ceremony photos at Powel Crosley Estate:
Jamie and Pere’s wedding ceremony was being held in the beautiful gardens of the Powel Crosley Estate, with her father kicking off proceedings by singing a prayer. As the bride was escorted down the aisle, we photographed Pere’s reaction as he watched Jamie walk towards him.
Throughout the ceremony, we captured wide-angle shots overlooking Sarasota Bay and close-ups as the couple exchanged vows. Unlike other weddings we’ve shot here, the ceremony was positioned in a way that meant we didn’t have the sun behind the scene, making it much easier to photograph. After sealing their marriage with a kiss in front of a wooden bridal arch, the couple made their recessional walk down the aisle, pausing for another kiss at the end.

Post-Ceremony photos at Powel Crosley Estate:
With the day running a little behind schedule, we had to work fast to capture bridal party portraits, including shots of Jamie with her bridesmaids in their sage green dresses. They were joined by the couple’s adorable dog who was color-coordinated and led the girls as they walked through the leafy grounds. We also grabbed some shots of Pere with his groomsmen and ushers, including both classic and more playful portraits.
It was then time for romantics and although the sun was setting fast, we still managed to capture a lot. In addition to some creative portraits of the couple with their dog, we also utilized their rustic bridal arch and a beautiful old banyan tree with its cascading roots.
We then strolled down to Sarasota Bay to capture sunset before returning to the Powel Crosley Estate for some portraits backed by the mansion’s elegant architecture. The couple kissed on a romantic balcony with the string lights of their reception hanging in front and embraced behind one of the arched doorways that front the property.

Jamie and Pere kicked off their wedding reception with a first dance, accompanied by a really great live band. The father-daughter dance followed before everyone hit the dance floor to celebrate beneath the stars.
Meanwhile, we snuck away with the couple for some nighttime portraits, again utilizing the banyan tree illuminated by our off-camera flash. We ended the night with some candid shots of the couple celebrating with those closest to them on the dance floor.
