Wedding and Reception Location: Powel Crosley Estate
Introduction:
Luannie and James live out in Tempe, Arizona, not far from where we used to be based. But the bride’s mom (who was also responsible for the wedding decorations) lives in Florida, so they were planning an intimate celebration with their closest family and friends at the Powel Crosley Estate. It’s a venue that we love, with lots of elegant rooms and beautiful locations for couple portraits.
Luannie and James really went all out, with plenty of glamorous details, such as a Rolls Royce, Dom Perignon champagne and even a live artist who painted their ceremony! The bride also had some great ideas for portraits, most of which we were able to capture. So it was a pleasure to be selected as the photographer for this gorgeous Sarasota wedding and get to work with such a great couple.
Getting ready photos at Powel Crosley Estate
We began the day capturing photos of James as he made his final preparations, with the groomsmen all helping one another to secure their ties. We also utilized the famous Ship Room at the Powel Crosley Estate for some portraits of the groom, including one as he held up the personalized hangar of his suit jacket.
Meanwhile, Luannie and her bridesmaids were getting ready in their spacious suite, with the girls all dressed in matching floral robes. We photographed them as they popped a bottle of champagne outside the Powel Crosley Estate and made a toast, then grabbed as shot as they all huddled around Luannie’s adorable dog.
After a shot of the bride and her mom, Anita, admiring her Morilee wedding dress hanging in the suite, Luannie stepped into her gown. We captured some elegant portraits of her standing at the suite window, then documented the reactions of her bridesmaids at seeing her looking so radiant.

Pre-Ceremony photos at Powel Crosley Estate
Before the ceremony was due to start, we had some time available for bridal party portraits and captured a bird’s eye view shot as Luannie made her way downstairs. We photographed the girls outside the estate as they blew kisses towards the camera and grabbed another with the bridesmaids holding the blackboards that detailed their relationship to Luannie.

Ceremony photos at Seagate, Powel Crosley Estate
Luannie made her grand ceremony entrance down the stairs as her father awaited, ready to escort her down the aisle of the Powel Crosley Estate’s garden venue. We photographed the couple’s vow exchange from multiple angles, as well as capturing a cute candid of the ring bearer in his sunglasses. While all of this was going on, the artist was sketching the ceremony from a distance, ready to paint it during the reception.
After being pronounced “husband and wife”, Luannie and James sealed their marriage with a kiss and made their recessional walk down the aisle. Personalized drinks awaited them, with a Puerto Rican flag in Luannie’s and a Canadian flag in James’ to reflect their respective countries of birth.

Post-Ceremony photos at Powel Crosley Estate
With the light fading, we had to work fast to capture romantics but both Luannie and James were great about it. We photographed them embracing framed by their floral bridal arch and another as the sun set behind them before capturing some loved-up shots of the couple on the old world, gilded sofas styled by Anita. In addition to a bridal party portrait in this setting, we also took a close-up shot of Luannie’s gorgeous bouquet from the Port Charlotte Florist and a wide-angle shot of the couple in a window of the Powel Crosley Estate’s tower.

Reception photos at Powel Crosley Estate
Luannie and James’ alfresco reception at the Powel Crosley Estate began with their grand entrance, followed by a romantic first dance on the smoke-filled floor. We captured a low-angle shot of them dancing with an ornate chandelier hanging above and another as they celebrated while fireworks streamed on either side.
Following speeches and toasts, everyone hit the dance floor to celebrate while the couple headed upstairs so we could capture a shot of them kissing in the balcony above. We ended the night with some photos of them dancing in front of their Rolls Royce and kissing in the back seat before they sped off to begin their married life together.

Conclusion
It really was an incredible day at the Powel Crosley Estate, with no expense spared on the details to make for a dream wedding. We wish Luannie and James all the best as they return to Arizona together and hope their future brings nothing but happiness.
