INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY
Including not only Florida’s state art museum, but also the beautifully-restored mansion once belonging to John and Mable Ringling, Ca’ d’Zan, The Ringling Museum of Art offers undeniable elegance for classically-styled wedding events. It was established in Sarasota during the late 1920s and now includes more than twenty galleries of European paintings, Cypriot antiquities, Asian decorative arts and contemporary American works. It includes works by Marcel Duchamp, Diego Velázquez, Fans Hals and Benedetto Pagni, making it the ideal location for lovers of art to tie the knot.
WEDDING INFORMATION
The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art offers numerous different locations for daytime wedding ceremonies, including the Museum of Art Courtyard, the Museum of Art Loggia, the Ca d’Zan Terrace, Mable’s Rose Garden, Beneath the Banyans, or the Bayfront Promenade & Campiello overlooking the waters of Sarasota Bay. Daytime weddings have use of the estate between 10am and 2pm, with most locations having the capacity for up to 100 guests, while evening ceremonies and receptions can utilize the venue from 6pm until 12am and cater to up to 400 guests.
For evening weddings, couples can opt for the Ca’ d’Zan Terrace and Bayfront where you can take in a magical sunset and dance beneath the stars, the Circus Museum for a distinctly playful theme, or the Museum of Art Courtyard and Loggia with its timeless elegance and ancient Greek, Roman and Baroque features. Depending on which venue you select, access to some galleries within the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art are available to your guests for a private viewing between 6pm and 8pm, as well as use of the grounds for a two-hour portrait session.
The Ca d’Zan Terrace and Bayfront rental includes the Ca’ d’Zan front lawns, Campiello patio and the Bayfront and Mansion Terrace, with the option to put a tent on the Campiello patio. Courtyard weddings include access to the North and South Galleries, as well as the carefully manicured lawns, while the Circus Museum allows your guests to self-tour the venue’s miniature circus and host a reception under the “Big Top” tent.
You can select your own wedding vendors and catering team from their list of approved caterers, together with all rental equipment, lighting, sound equipment and decorations. Ringling Guest Services handle the provision of all alcoholic beverages, while all linen, tables, plates, silver and glassware, lighting and chairs need to be brought in. Because of the logistics of having a wedding at The Ringling, a wedding planner or coordinator is highly recommended.
