Introduction:
Hailing from Georgia, Hannah and Chris’s original wedding plans were put on hold due to the Covid pandemic. Eventually, they decided on an intimate elopement in Sarasota at the gorgeous John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
They were sharing this special occasion with just their closest family and friends, and we were honored that they selected Fallbrook Photography to document it. A tropical storm threatened to dampen their celebrations but after a short downpour, we were treated to dramatic skies that were ideal for photography.
Pre-ceremony portraits at the Ringling Museum:
We met up with the couple at the Ringling Museum where we captured a photo of Hannah’s mom securing a bracelet from the bride’s brother who passed away the previous year. It was then time for the first look in the estate’s stunning gardens, which we followed up with a candid shot of Hannah’s mom fixing Chris’s boutonniere to his lapel.
Before the ceremony was due to start, we had time for some portraits of the bride and groom strolling through the Ringling Museum’s gardens and in front of the Ca’ d’Zan. This magnificent Venetian Gothic Revival residence features elaborate arches, which provided the perfect backdrop for shots of the couple kissing and embracing as Hannah’s veil flew behind her.
Wedding Ceremony Photos at the Ringling Museum:
Hannah’s dad escorted her down a garden path of the Ringling Museum for the start of the intimate wedding ceremony, which was being held on the patio of the Ca’ d’Zan. We captured a candid photo of Chris’s reaction as he watched his bride walk towards him and grabbed a wide-angle shot of this architectural masterpiece framed by the estate’s towering palm trees.
After a creative shot looking through a terracotta planter as the couple exchanged vows, we documented their first kiss and grabbed a black and white photo as they made their recessional walk down the garden path. They paused beside the Ringling Museum’s famous zodiac sundial before making use of a whimsical banyan tree for some romantic couple portraits.
We ended this Ringling Museum wedding portrait session with some sunset shots as Hannah and Chris embraced on a balcony and captured another beneath an umbrella overlooking the waters of Sarasota Bay. A couple of playful dolphins coming up to congratulate them was the perfect ending to a magical Sarasota elopement.
Reception photos at Michael’s on East:
Hannah and Chris were celebrating with an intimate wedding reception in the wine cellar of Michael’s on East. It was our first time shooting at this sophisticated venue, with low lighting that was ideal for dramatically-lit portraits. Before the couple settled down for their meal, we captured some romantic embraces and a champagne toast as they marked the start of their married life together.
Conclusion
Despite the threat of rain and the delays caused by the global pandemic, Hannah and Chris’s Ringling Museum elopement turned into a wonderful day that we were privileged to capture through both still photography and videography. We wish them all the best as they return to Georgia and start their married life together and hope these photos bring back warm memories of their time in Florida.
