Wedding at Cedar Cove: Geoff and Katie

Introduction:
Katie and Geoff lead busy professional lives out in Washington D.C. but were planning an intimate beach wedding at Cedar Cove Resort & Cottages on Holmes Beach with their closest family and friends. This was our first time shooting at this relaxed Holmes Beach wedding venue, which we really loved, with everything happening in the one place.
Getting ready photos at Cedar Cove Resort & Cottages:
While Geoff was getting ready in a suite downstairs at Cedar Cove Resort & Cottages, Katie was just above him with her four bridesmaids making their final preparations. We photographed her highly unique wedding dress by Sindashi hanging in the palm trees outside, then captured some candid shots as she had her hair styled by Femme Akoiand makeup done by Lujain El-Shalabi.

Ceremony photos at Cedar Cove Resort & Cottages:
After a few portraits of Katie looking radiant in her wedding dress, it was time for the Anna Maria Island beach wedding ceremony to get underway. We captured candid shots as Katie’s mom wiped away tears while walking her daughter down the aisle, then grabbed a wide-angle looking across the stunning beachside setting.
A copy of Dr Seuss’ “Oh, the places you’ll go” was handed around during the wedding ceremony for each of the guests to read a couple of lines, before Katie and Geoff exchanged their personalized vows. They then made their joyous recessional walk as husband and wife to be congratulated by their family and friends.

With Geoff too busy playing football with his buddies beforethe ceremony to have portraits taken, we utilized the late-afternoon light for some romantics of the couple in this loved-up moment. We captured up-close shots of Katie and Geoff embracing on the white sands of Holmes Beach and in the grassy dunes behind, as well as capturing a playful shot of them jumping into the air with their bridesmaids.

Wedding Reception at Cedar Cove Resort & Cottages:
Katie and Geoff’s laid-back Anna Maria Island wedding reception was being held on the beach in front of Cedar Cove Resort & Cottages. They kicked off proceedings with their first dance before speeches and toasts from those closest to them.
As the sun began to sink towards the horizon, we wandered down to the shore for some portraits of the couple soaking up this magical moment and added some drama with the use of off-camera flash. The dusk sky provided a whimsical setting for shots of the newlyweds embracing, as well as a solo portrait of Geoff in his bare feet!
Everyone then hit the dance floor to celebrate, with Geoff smashing a piñatathat his friend had brought as a bit of an inside joke. We captured an up-close details shot of the cute dinosaur cake toppers on their Publix creation before ending the evening with a nighttime shot of the couple dancing beneath a beautifully-lit beach hut.
