Wedding at The Sandbar Restraurant

Wedding and Reception Location: Anna Maria Island, FL

Introduction:

Katie and Brian were planning a really relaxed wedding at The Sandbar Restaurant on Anna Maria Island with just their closest family and friends. They have three kids between them – Hannah, Ella and Greyson – who were going to be their bridal party and it turned out to be such an incredible day filled with lots of special family moments.

When we turned up at their private VBRO rental on Anna Maria Island around an hour before shooting was due to start, Brian told us he didn’t want any photos of the guys getting ready. So we focused our energies on documenting Katie’s final preparations, accompanied by Brian’s two teenage daughters – Hannah and Ella.

Getting ready photos at 202 81st Street Anna Maria Island:

We began the day capturing some candid black and white photos as Katie had the final touches applied to her makeup and her hair styled by Ashlee Ann. After grabbing a shot as she admired herself in a hand mirror, we then documented some special moments with her bridesmaids before stepping into her gorgeous dress created byAllison Webbof Ti Adora.

We photographed Hannah and Ella helping to secure the back of her dress and some warm embraces between them before using the time available for portraits of Katie looking absolutely radiant. We grabbed some shots of her looking out the window of her beach rental property and seated on a stylish sofa, as well as capturing a soft, close-up portrait showcasing her engagement ring.

Pre-Ceremony photos at The Sandbar Restaurant:

It was then time for the couple’s first look in the gardens of The Sandbar Restaurant where we also captured some romantic portraits of Katie and Brian in this loved-up moment. In addition to candid shots as Brian’s daughters assisted with his boutonniere and Katie secured Greyson’s, we also captured a black and white kiss between the bride and her son.

You could just tell how important family was to this close-knit unit and we took advantage of the remaining time for some special family portraits. We grabbed shots of the two sisters embracing and some portraits with their step-brother Greyson before capturing a portrait of the whole family beneath a shaded tree.

Ceremony portraits at The Sandbar Restaurant:

It was then time for the ceremony to get underway, with Katie and Brian saying “I do” on the white sands of Anna Maria Island. Around 45 of their closest family and friends watched on during this intimate affair, which we captured both up close and from afar. In addition to photographing Ella as she helped tie the knot around the couple’s hands, we also captured Katie and Brian’s first kiss after being pronounced “husband and wife”.

Post-ceremony portraits at The Sandbar Restaurant:

While the sun was still quite high in the sky during Katie and Brian’s beach wedding ceremony at The Sandbar Restaurant, as it began to soften, we utilized the atmospheric light for some romantic couple portraits. We photographed Katie leading Brian along the sands and embracing beside the tall dune grasses, as well as getting creative with some black and white shots.

As the sun sank towards the horizon, we captured an off-camera flash kiss between the newlyweds and a portrait as the sky transformed behind them before grabbing a final family portrait with their bridal party.

Reception photos at The Sandbar Restaurant:

Katie and Brian’s intimate wedding reception was being held beneath a beachside pavilion at The Sandbar Restaurant, with the Black Tie DJs getting everyone on the dance floor. Greyson, in particular, impressed us with his moves, with plenty of great moments to capture throughout the night.

We photographed Katie feeding Brian a piece of their SugarPastecake and grabbed a wide-angle shot looking across the illuminated pavilion, as well as helping Greyson out as he had fun in our photo booth.

Conclusion

Katie and Brian’s wedding at The Sandbar Restaurant on Anna Maria Island was such a laid-back and wonderful day, with a beautiful family in front of the camera. We can’t thank them enough for selecting Fallbrook Photography to capture their special day and hope they love these images as much as we did taking them.
