Introduction:
We first met Katy and Caelan last year when we shot their romantic engagement session at the Greenbrook Adventure Park in Lakewood Ranch. They were tying the knot surrounded by their closest family friends at the whimsical Wandering Oaks, a country-style wedding venue in Myakka City.
From getting ready to the outdoor ceremony and the barn reception, everything was happening in one place. This meant we had plenty of time to capture portraits of the newlyweds and their bridal party.
Getting ready photos at Wandering Oaks
We began the day capturing candid photos of Katy and Caelan as they prepared in separate suites at Wandering Oaks. After a reflective shot of the groom adjusting his tie, we stepped outside for some portraits with his groomsmen and dad in the leafy grounds.
Meanwhile, Katy was making her final preparations with her mom and bridesmaids who were all dressed in light blue robes to match their dresses. We captured some details shots of the bride’s perfume, jewelry and wedding shoes before photographing as her maid-of-honor helped to slip them on.
Dressed and ready to go in her gorgeous Stella York wedding dress, Katy read a notecard from her groom before being surprised by her dad during their first look session. After documenting this special family moment, we used the time available to take a few portraits of the beautiful bride in the rustic surrounds of Wandering Oaks, with her Kelsey Russo bouquet in hand.

Ceremony photos at Wandering Oaks
Katy and Caelan wanted to keep things traditional and not see one another before their ceremony. But they did want a special “first touch” session, which we captured in black and white. A ring bearer holding a black box with the words “Ring Security” led the procession down the aisle, followed by the flower girl, the bridesmaids, and Katy on the arm of her dad.
After an emotional bride hand-off, we captured Katy and Caelan’s wedding ceremony at Wandering Oaks from multiple angles, including up-close candids as they exchanged vows. We also stepped back for some wide-angles to showcase this stunning Myakka City wedding venue as they said “I do” beneath a sprawling tree. The bride and groom sealed their marriage with a kiss before making their recessional walk down the aisle to be congratulated by family and friends.

Post-Ceremony photos at Wandering Oaks
We began Katy and Caelan’s wedding photo session at Wandering Oaks with some bridal party portraits, including one of the couple kissing as their entourage celebrated around them. It was then time for romantics of the newlyweds, with plenty of gorgeous locations for the nature-inspired shoot.
We captured photos of the couple embracing beneath the moss-laden trees of Wandering Oaks and kissing beside a wooden fence, as well as grabbing a few shots as they relaxed on the magical swinging bench. The late-afternoon light was particularly atmospheric and streamed through the trees to beautifully illuminate Katy and Caelan.

Reception photos at Wandering Oaks
The couple’s wedding reception was being held in the wooden barn at Wandering Oaks, with speeches from the groom’s father and best man kicking off proceedings. Young and old then hit the dance floor to celebrate beneath the romantic string lights that were hung from the ceiling.
We snuck out with Katy and Caelan for a short nighttime portrait session, including a few dramatically-lit shots using off-camera flash in the barn doorway. After some details shots of the couple’s wedding rings and a candid photo as they fed one another their Batter Up Bakery cake, we ended the night documenting their grand sparkler exit from the Wandering Oaks wedding reception.

Conclusion
We had a great time hanging out with Katy and Caelan during their e-session last year and it was wonderful to reconnect for their special day at Wandering Oaks. We wish them all the happiness as they embark on this next chapter together and hope that these images bring back incredible memories of their wedding day for many years to come.
