Wedding at Grand Plaza Resort
Wedding and Reception Location: St Pete, FL
Introduction:
We first heard from Brittney and David around a year ago about capturing their beach wedding at Grand Plaza Resort in St Petersburg. I drove up to meet with Brittney at a coffee shop in St Petersburg and she hired us on the spot.
We got to know the couple better during an engagement session in Myakka around six months ago and were excited to reconnect for their special day at Grand Plaza Resort. This beachfront hotel overlooks the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico and features a palm tree-lined beach wedding ceremony site where Brittney and David were planning to say “I do”.
Getting ready photos at Grand Plaza Resort:
We began the day photographing Brittney and David as they were getting ready in separate suites at the Grand Plaza Resort, capturing candid black and white photos as the bride admired her dress. We documented the moment her mom and maid-of-honor helped to button up the back of her wedding dress, then captured some portraits of the bride holding her arrangement by The Bride’s Bouquet while looking across the beach from her suite balcony.
Meanwhile, David was getting ready with his groomsmen nearby and we got creative with a black and white shot looking through the shuttered windows as he walked across the suite balcony. We then headed down to the sands of St Petersburg beach for some casual portraits with his groomsmen and a solo shot in the grassy dunes.

It was then time for the couple’s first look, which we held at the palm tree-lined wedding ceremony site. After capturing their reactions at seeing one another for the first time on their wedding day, we used the time available for romantic portraits beneath the dramatic skies and a close-up black and white as Brittney kissed David’s cheek while he checked his watch.

Ceremony photos at Grand Plaza Resort
Brittney’s dad escorted her down the aisle at the start of the intimate beach wedding ceremony, with most of the couple’s guests having travelled to St Petersburg from out of town. Rev. Tom Greene led the proceedings as the couple exchanged vows in front of their family and friends while we captured both up-close reactions and candid moments throughout the ceremony.
After being pronounced “husband and wife”, Brittney and David sealed their marriage with a kiss before making their recessional walk down the aisle with beaming smiles.

With the couple glowing, we stayed on the beach for some more romantics, capturing warm embraces in the grassy dunes and a shot of Brittney’s veil flying in the wind. We also got creative with a close-up of David looking lovingly at his bride and a black and white as he twirled her on the white sands.

Reception photos at Grand Plaza Hotel:
Brittney and David kicked off their reception with a first dance, which we captured through a reflective shot utilizing the room’s many mirrors. We also documented the couple cutting their Cakes by Carolynn creation and David having fun on the dance floor with his friends before sneaking out for a sunset portrait session.
Although the sky didn’t deliver its usually vibrant colors, we did get creative with the use of off-camera flash during this dusk beach portrait session. We captured shots of the couple holding hands and embracing beneath the dramatic sky above, as well as a shot as Brittney led her groom along the beach.
