Wedding at The Tampa Federation Garden Club

Introduction:
Sharing a mutual love of space (and both working in the space industry), Kelly and Matthew were planning a unique wedding at the Tampa Federation Garden Clubs to celebrate their love. We were honored that they selected Fallbrook Photography to document their special day, with a few quirky details (such as meteorite-inspired rocks) to capture.
Getting ready photos at Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel:
The day began at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel where the couple were getting ready in separate suites. We captured some candid black and white shots as Matt and his groomsmen made their final preparations before heading into the streets of Downtown Tampa for some fun portraits. We photographed the boys standing in front of some of the city’s architectural landmarks, as well as grabbing a Beatles-style shot as they walked across a pedestrian crossing.
Meanwhile, Kelly was getting ready with her bridesmaids and we grabbed a close-up shot as one of her friends did up the button detailing on the back of her Justin Alexander wedding dress. We also captured a special moment between the bride and her mom before documenting an emotional moment as Kelly read a book gifted from her groom.

It was then time to head over to the Tampa Federation Garden Clubs for the father-daughter first look, which was followed by a first look between Kelly and Matt at their ceremony site. We used the opportunity for some portraits of the couple in this loved-up moment before a few bridal party portraits of the girls in their bright blue dresses.

Kelly’s dad then escorted her down the garden aisle to her awaiting groom, with the couple exchanging vows framed by the lush greenery of the Tampa Federation Garden Clubs. We captured wide-angle shots looking down the aisle and up-close candid moments during their ring exchange before photographing the newlyweds as they made their joyous recessional walk down the aisle.

After capturing a kiss between the couple as their bridal party and parents celebrated around them, we took some more classic bridal party portraits. We also got creative with a football-inspired shot of Kelly pretending to throw her bouquet while Matt’s groomsmen readied to run and a playful shot as the couple kissed while their ring bearers ran away.
We also captured some romantics of the couple themselves, with the dense foliage of the Tampa Federation Garden Clubs specially selected to reflect their mutual love of dinosaurs! We incorporated Kelly’s orchid bouquet from Leaf It To Us (with Matt having bought her an orchid plant for each year they’ve been together), as well as getting creative with the use of off-camera flash.

Reception photos at Tampa Federation Garden Clubs:
It was then time for the couple’s wedding reception to get underway, which was being held in the glamorous ballroom of the Tampa Federation Garden Clubs. We documented their grand entrance as wedding guests waved white serviettes, as well as grabbing some wide-angle shots to showcase the beautifully-illuminated room.
Although it had been threatening to rain all day, we managed to sneak out during the reception for some sunset portraits overlooking the waterfront, with the skies transforming brilliant hues of pink and purple. After a portrait of the couple holding hands outside the Tampa Federation Garden Clubs, the skies eventually opened for a downpour!
We returned inside where the couple made a round of the tables, stopping to toast (and drink) at each one. Their wedding combined elements of Matt’s European culture with Kelly’s Vietnamese heritage, which was most notable in the lavish 10-course feast that the guests were treated to.
Rather than a traditional wedding cake, the couple had opted for a donut cake made by the Mini Doughnut Factory. After their cake-cutting ceremony, everyone hit the dance floor to party to the sounds of DJ Lena Ung, ending what had been an incredible day.
